subject: A List Of Popular Eye Corrective Devices [print this page]

Bad vision is an issue that has plagued mankind since the dawn of time. In fact, early cavemen were probably often times attacked by animals that they never even knew were attacking. However, innovative souls have constantly found ways around having bad vision and have fixed themselves and others with their brilliant work. Most recently, Davis vision and eye med VSP have been vital in getting people these eyesight correcting eyewear. However, not everyone can pay for those things and there are still things on the market that are affordable and make it possible to see better without having to pay a fortune.

One of the most popular forms of vision correction are contacts. Contacts are small lenses that one can insert in the eyes to make sight better. Soft contacts are much easier to wear because they are pliable and therefore much gentler on the eye than their predecessors. Before the invention of soft lenses people had to deal with hard contact lenses, which can often have build ups of film and are just generally harder on the eyes than the newer model of lenses. Due to their widespread use, contact lenses are fairly affordable now as an option to correct vision and are certainly great to have.

Before contacts the only option that was available to aid eyesight were glasses. Glasses are, as one might expect, glass lenses that people perch atop their noses and directly in front of the eyes to fix vision. Typically these days, people wear glasses when they are younger and grow up and want to get contact lenses. Due to differing types of vision issues, some people only have to wear glasses when they read as opposed to all the time. This is referred to as being far sighted, because the person affected by it has trouble seeing things nearby, but can see things far away. More commonly, however, wearers of glasses are near sighted, meaning obviously that they are able to see things from close by but not long distances. This affliction requires the wearing of glasses at all times rather than during certain periods.

Finally, one of the most fascinating products that people can purchace to correct vision is the monocle. The monocle is a very funny thing in that it is only one lens that is tethered to a chain and only worn at certain times. Although to many it would seem useless to only fix the vision in one eye, the monocle is the preferred eyewear of classy blokes such as the guy on the Monopoly box and Mr. Peanut. Quite frankly anybody who questions the fashion sense and credibility of those two connoisseurs of style and legendary fictitious characters just doesn't know what in the world they're talking about.

Correcting impaired eyesight is a vital thing for people to accomplish a great number of daily tasks and chores. Many people are uncapable of driving cars without vision corrections and some people have vision so bad that they're legally considered blind. For these people and others with less life altering problems it's very lucky that so many excellent and affordable vision correction options are available.
