House Cleaning is something some people like to do and even hire out for that purpose, while others do as little as possible. It is possible for the average homeowner to plan their cleaning so it does not become a burden. If it becomes a routine it becomes a natural thing to do and no big deal.
The majority of people could really lighten the load of house cleaning if they got in the habit of cleaning up after themselves. In other words, hang up the coat when arriving home, don't throw it over a chair. When done with newspapers discard them or fold them up neatly and so forth. A great deal of house cleaning is picking up things that have been strewed about.
If one has children, start at an early age and give them a two or three rooms and a regular day or days of the week when they have to pick up everything that is laying around and put it away. There will be a battle at first but, if one is consistent, it will not be long until it is a habit. This is an excellent way to train them for later in life.
Light cleaning is what one does every day and heavy cleaning is what one does once a year. The latter is when one goes all out. This means taking down the curtains, washing the windows, cleaning out the cupboards and getting rid of the clutter.
One can make their daily, or light, cleaning meaningful. In addition to sweeping, moping, washing counters, dusting and picking up one can, little by little, get rid of the clutter. Having a box in the garage or basement and putting things in it to be given away or sold at a yard sale later will do a lot to reduce the amount of cleaning one has to do.
If one plans carefully, heavy duty house cleaning does not have to be a burden. It is a lot of work to completely clean a room but if it is done one room at a time, stretched out over a planned period it is not difficult. Doing one room at a time, once a week, with a 6 room house one would be done in six weeks and one would not have to worry about it for another year.
