Traveling to New Zealand? Read This First

So if you're read any of my past articles, then you've read how New Zealand is fast becoming a destination for health tourism. Orthopedic surgeries such as knee replacements or hip replacements can be performed in New Zealand for a fraction of the cost they can be done elsewhere. I've written about how safe New Zealand is relative to other health tourism destinations such as India and Thailand.

Now, it's time to write about the country itself. The online travel site Virtual Tourist has some good resources, tips, photos, and videos that can help you make some decisions on where to go and what to see. If you do end up traveling to New Zealand for joint replacement surgery, you likely won't be at the hospital the entire time, and while you'll want to avoid hiking or bungee jumping, there are plenty of things to see and experience.

If you decide to stay within the Auckland city limits, there's the Domain and Museum. Nearby there are some vineyards to explore and some great wine to taste. You can also enjoy a train ride (Scenic Rail) across the country to Wellington and back. You'll see some beautiful scenery and wildlife along the way and there will be limited walking.

Conde Nast magazine consistently rates New Zealand as a top tourist destination. It's been rated one of the safest places to travel. And now it's gaining momentum as a health tourism destination with world class hospital facilities, highly trained surgeons, and low prices. It's time to consider New Zealand for all sorts of reasons.
