Baby Baths
Baby Baths

When you have a baby at first you are so scared about giving them a bath, even to hold them in your arms.

They are such tiny little beatiful creatures that you want the best for them and you try to protect them from everything you can think of. That is why in regards to giving them a shower when I had my first baby I gave him a shower everyday to have him smelling good and well of course because of good hygiene.

But recently in a visit to the doctor with my second baby which is now 5 months old, I was reading a booklet that was speaking in regards to the skin and hair of the baby. Everyone knows that the skin and hair has natural oils that soothes and protects it. Therefore it is not recommended to bathe the baby on a daily basis due to the chemicals in any kind of soap washing away those necessary oils that the body produces. Specially at that young age their sking is mostly sensitive and lets be honest even if you don't give them a bath they smell delicious "like babies".

So I invite all of you to take this into consideration, anyway is for the long run benefit of the baby's skin and hair. It won't get dry or rough, it will give you more time which we all need some of all the time. So in reality the recommended frecuency of giving babies a bath is every two days.

Although, you can still clean them with a moist towel because of course they do sweat at night, you can wash their bottoms just to keep them clean but not dry out their skin and wash out their natural body oils.
