subject: Expected Car Launches Till June [print this page] Summers have knocked on our door and mercury is headed north. The country is gearing up to tackle the heat wave but not the country's carmakers. For this summer they are bringing some really cool products to the country. Some of these cars have been eagerly awaited for a while. Here is a brief overview of what the carmakers have in store for us this some.
Starting with indigenous car company Tata Motors, which has been planned a number of models for a long time. The company displayed their brand new MUV Aria at the Delhi auto expo and industry sources are claiming an April launch. This car is all set to compete with Toyota Innova and Ford Endeavour and is expected to be priced between Rs12-14 lakh. The car is expected to come with a 2.2L, DICOR (Direct Injection Common Rail) engine (same as Tata Safari). The engine produces 140bhp power at 4000rpm with 320Nm torque at 1700-2700rpm. Aria is expected to be launched in three variants and all variants will be available with both 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) and 2WD (Two Wheel Drive Option).
Next to come is the Nissan Micra that was a major attraction at the Geneva Motor Show. The car is built on an all new V-platform (V stands for versatile) and has been built keeping India in mind. The car is expected to come in six variants with both manual and automatic transmission options in both petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2L petrol variant with a 1240cc petrol engine and 1.4L, 1386cc petrol engine are capable of producing 80PS and 88PS of power respectively. On the other hand, diesel variant with a 1.5L, 1461cc diesel engine would produce 86PS power. The car would have to be priced cleverly after Ford launched its Figo for Rs3.5 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
Another cool model that we are about to get is from Skoda's stable the all new Skoda Yeti. Skoda Yeti would be launched with both petrol and diesel engine option. The 1.8L, 1798cc, turbo charged, DOHC petrol engine with six-speed manual transmission gearbox and with 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) capable of producing maximum power of 160PS at 4500-6200rpm with the maximum torque of 250Nm at 1500-4500rpm. The 2.0L, 1968cc, Turbo Charged diesel engine with 5-speed manual transmission gearbox produces maximum power of 110PS at 4200rpm with 250Nm of maximum torque at 1500-2500rpm.The 6-speed manual transmission gearbox in the 2.0L diesel engine type with advanced Haldex clutch is capable of producing 140PS of maximum power at 4200rpm with 320Nm of maximum torque at 1750-2500rpm.
