Eating in Salou
Eating in Salou

In Salou, as with the rest of Spain, you can find some brilliant international food right alongside the traditional favourites. For anyone heading to Spain for the first time it might be daunting to think of how you're going to sustain yourself. Rest assured there's not only plenty of choice, but high standards of quality to the cuisine here too. The locals are well aware that tourists want things to be friendly and convenient, so there's plenty on offer here, but they're also picky about their own standards of food, so there's top-notch local stuff too.

On the Cheap

With such a thriving club and bar scene it's hardly surprising that Salou has what it takes to feed an army of revellers. You'll be hard pressed to not get drawn into a kebab shack at some point during your stay. They're mostly gathered around the centre, but really it's not hard to find somewhere that'll do you a good burger. For people that are really worried about being homesick there are McDonalds and Burger King in Salou and you can munch on plenty of British favourites at pubs like the Victoria. The Chinese all you can eat buffets are perhaps the best way to get your money's worth, with an unspecified number of courses only setting you back around ten Euros.

Treat Yourself

The best classy eating can be found towards the seafront along the Spanish Mansion District. The Italian cuisine here is to die for, with pizzerias and gelato houses offering you an easy fix of main course and dessert. The Spanish places are great too, mostly giving you the chance to try wonderfully fresh seafood cooked in traditional stews or grilled with simple ingredients. A lot of the places aren't too expensive either, so you can find a happy medium between a burger and chips and something that breaks the bank at every mouthful.

Near Salou

The neighbouring town of Cambrils is a great choice for any serious foody. If you're intent on finding the real flavours of Spain then this is it seafood dishes, tapas, and local wines, all made with fresh, regional ingredients and cooked to perfection.
