If you're heading to the Spanish resort of Salou this year you might want to know what else you can get up to in the region. The Costa Dorada is famous as both a romantic getaway spot as well as a superb place to take a family, and as the major resort, Salou is the heart to this region's tourist industry. It's clear that the city of Salou has plenty to do from a vibrant nightlife to an incredible food scene and even some wonderful late-night shopping too! If you want to go out into the rest of Costa Dorada it helps to know what else is in store, getting around by car is easy or you can take advantage of the country's great public transport network. It's a pretty safe bet that with this seaside paradise, you're in for a pleasant surprise.
If you want to get in on some history and see another beautiful stretch of the coast, head to the harbour of El Sarrello. Here you'll find an authentic slice of traditional Spanish life and be able to take part in some great sightseeing tours too. There are tour boats leaving from the port regularly, so it's an easy fix to pick up some wonderful holiday snaps. Alternatively you can see the Playa Llarga, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Catalonian coast and unwind next to the calm waters and brilliantly soft sand.
If you want to see cosmopolitan life outside of Salou you can always check out Tarragona. There's a wealth of history to explore, with cathedrals and churches each giving their own window in to Spain's exciting past. If you want retail therapy you can find it here too, with a rustic market through the week, and some more up-to-date boutiques in the city centre. Whatever you're in the mood for, you'll find something to make a trip to Tarragona worthwhile.
