subject: Htc Unveil The New Legend [print this page] At first glance, we love the look of the new HTC Legend. The lovely looking metal body certainly catches the eye, but does the performance live up to all of the hype.
One of the appealing aspects of HTC's handsets is there impressive looking and very easy to use "Sense" user interface. This attempts to make the whole menu system easily customisable by the user, offering the chance to put your own widgets where you want on the home screen, rather than having to delve through several layers of menus to find what you need. It also makes your contacts list much more useable, so rather than simply displaying a number it shows you a whole host of other information such as e mails, messages and various other interactions. Sense isn't only about how the interface works for you, its also about the general look, and it does have a wow factor. Widgets appear crisp, menus look fun and some nice touches such as a screen displaying the actual weather outside are all fun, if not entirely necessary additions.
HTC's decision to incorporate AMOLED screen technology into the 3.2 inch display was a wise one. Thanks to this the colours on screen really do have a lot of depth, and despite the screen offering a fairly standard 320 x 480 resolution everything looks more impressive than perhaps it has any right to. The screen does support multi touch, so pinch and zoom is featured just as it is on the iPhone. Beneath the screen a new touchpad has been included rather than the trackball that is featured on older models. This is an improvement however you may argue that it is not entirely necessary on a phone with a good quality touch screen. Overall dimensions make for fairly standard smartphone reading, weighing 122 grammes and measuring 112 x 56.3 x 11.5mm. Despite its average size, it certainly looks better than average thanks to the body cast from a single piece of Aluminium.
The HTC Legend includes a 5 million pixel camera. This snapper also includes autofocus and flash to help out in all types of conditions. Widescreen photo capture is especially useful if you want to display your pictures on a home TV. 512MB of memory is available for you to store your information on, however you can expand this buy purchasing a microSD card in whatever size you require, up to 32GB.
If you are looking for a Smartphone which is quick and easy to use but still maintains an element of fun then the Legend is the phone for you. It gains extra points for its stunning looks and features such as the "Sense" UI and all of the excellent options that go hand in hand with it. A really good handset from what is proving to be a really good manufacturer.
