Luxury Accommodation on the Isle of Wight

This Isle of Wight is the largest island in England, conveniently located just off the southern coast of Hampshire County, a mere two and a half hours from London by rail. It has been the home to some of the most prominent members of British society in history, including Queen Victoria, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and even Charles Dickens, who wrote much of "David Copperfield" there. It is still the playground of the rich and famous.

Luxury accommodations for even the most discriminating tastes can be had here. Among the most sumptuous are on the southern coast. The Orchard Bay House, originally three coastguard cottages dating back to the 19th century, is now a beautiful seven-bedroom home with breathtaking views of the English Channel. You may sunbathe on the ample terrace, stroll along the sand and fine gravel of the private beach, or perhaps take out a sailboat or canoe. You may prepare your own meals in the newly updated kitchen using some of the exquisite local produce and then serve it in the formal dining room, with seating for twelve. The first floor living room provides a quiet place to relax and take in the sunset. When the winds come whipping off the ocean, prepare a crackling fire in the lounge. After a long day of sheer relaxation, make your way to the ground floor master suite, one of two master suites in the home, and take in the stunning ocean views through the French doors which open onto the terrace.

If you seek to temporarily escape your luxury accommodations, the Isle of Wight offers any number of activities. With an agreeable climate for nearly the whole year, one can enjoy the scenic rural countryside and the ample wildlife either on foot, on bicycle, or by car. Half of the island has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The two largest towns, Newport and Ryde, offer everything from shopping to sporting venues to Victorian architecture, as well as the occasional summer music festival. In addition to all that, the Isle has 92 kilometers of coastline, seven golf courses, and numerous wine bars and pubs. Just remember that at the end of the day, you still have the Orchard Bay House to look forward to.
