Another Pharmacist called Asa Candler bought the formula from Pemberton in 1887 at a cost of $2300. Within ten years, the soda turned out to be one of the most popular fountain drinks. Asa Candler did aggressive marketing of the product to realize this goal. As both Pemberton and Candler were running Coca-Cola Company, the sales to the drink climbed to 4000 percent between 1890 and 1900.

Three versions of the soft drink were sold by three different companies in the first few years. But after some legal and unpleasant experiences, a second Coca-Cola company was formed in 1892 and this is the same company which exists till today

Those companies would sell the syrup to bottled Coke in the country.

Besides having the ability to spread Coca-Cola quickly across the country in a convenient and cost effective manner, another asset of the drink was its continuous aggressive marketing campaigns.
