Why "merry" Christmas? (Part 2)
< Because men cannot understand the supreme Godhead, he descends out of his causeless mercy.> (Bhagavad Gita 10:2; 18:73). And the bible says: (Luke 1:78; King James). These verses speak about the one God from heaven that came down on earth to visit mankind, given different names. He came to rescue mankind out of danger. (Ex 3:7-10, Is 64:1-4, 1Cor 10:4, Jude: 5). He did this purely from compassion and mercy.
An encyclopedia defines mercy as a "positive action, an expression of kind consideration or pity that brings relief to those who are disadvantaged> (Aid to Bible Understanding, pg 1139). THE God who came to Egypt did this out of mercy (Ex 3). It may interest you to know that the word "mercy" is also the name of a female. It shares the same root with "merry"---"Mer"
The God of mercy was the same God known as "Mar'ya"-our Mary. His proper name is Rahma. There was a Rhamses said to be the first king of Egypt; Goshen in Egypt, the place where the Israelites lived was called Ramses (Gen 47:11, Ex 1:11, Ex 8:22). There was the Sun God of Egypt called RA for whom history says the 3 pyramids of Gizeh in Egypt were built. Does this name bear any resemblance with "Beer Lahai Roi" (the living God who sees me; Gen 16:13-14). It was the Egyptian maidservant of ABRAM, Hagar, who called this name.
It was the same God known in the Quran as Allah, the merciful and compassionate whose name Rahma rings in the chapters of the Quran. (Quran 17:110; 2:139). The same God Rahma was called Christ. He is mentioned in some verses of the Bible as being that God who was with Moses. (John 5:46, Heb 11:26 John 5:39, LK 24:27; 1Cor 10:4, Jude5).
The merciful God is called either Rahma or Christ. See these examples:
Ruhamah- mercy (Hos 1:6, King James)
Rahham - mercy, love compassion (Dictionary)
Ramat mercy (6th month of Baha'i calendar). These words are all variants of Rahma. Today, the name Rahma appears to have fallen into oblivion with other names taking over. It is his epithet "merciful" that is widely used(EX 34:6, Dt 4:31,Jer 3:12, Neh 9:7, Ps 99:7, Luke 1:78, Luke 6:36)
Rahma, as mentioned in part one of this article was the merry God. He was always full of joy and so was Christ (Luke 10:21). He was called the blessed God. His very nature and person was a source of delight to all those who came into contact with him. He passed on or transferred his opulences, qualities and virtues to his living counterpart the mother whose body he appropriated for his use.
Whatever he was, so was the mother. < Mother become like unto me> (Divine Mysteries pg 43). Merry Christmas addresses the God through the mother his visible counterpart, (Divine Mysteries pg 60)
