This HD box has the ability to live pause the TV and has the three hour buffer limit with DD5.1 audio output to hear the best music output. This Philips freeview HD box and the recorder comes with an eight-day EPG with parental locking and consumes less than 1W in the standby mode which is an excellent feature of the box. Other than this recorder the company Philips is also introducing a slim line receiver in the market for its users and this receiver will offer up freeview HD but it will have no recording capabilities. Superior quality of picture and sound are offered for this box by freeview HD services for one price.

This Philips recorder is not the first one with ambilight style rim and it is certainly coolest looking device. It comes as a brushed metal square case and the edges are glowing which sets it apart from the rest of the bland black boxes which are common in the market. It packs a 500 GB hard drive which is enough of storing 250 hours of broadcasts or 125 hours of HD. It also has twin tuners means that it can record while watching the channel and can also record two channels simultaneously while playing back the other recording.
