Training Your Subconscious Mind
Training Your Subconscious Mind

First and foremost, let us define the word subconscious.

The human mind is composed of a conscious and a subconscious part. Similar to an iceberg, the conscious mind is the part that floats over the water while the subconscious mind is the part that is unseen, hidden beneath the water surface.

Everyone has a subconscious. The subconscious is where everything that we have learned to do without thinking is kept. It is the place where everything that is currently not in your conscious mind is stored. The subconscious is the repository for all of our life experiences, beliefs, memories, skills, and all the images that we've ever seen.

The subconscious is responsible for the feelings and emotions a person experiences when dealing with a new situation. The conscious mind, on the other hand, is responsible for actions that are done under an individual's complete control, such as logic, thought, and calculations. The subconscious mind also controls such bodily functions as breathing and heartbeat. For this reason, the subconscious is often referred to as a person's autopilot.

Examples abound of great things having been accomplished by individuals who harnessed and put into action the power of their subconscious. These individuals describe the experience as, sort of, being carried by an immense power within that seemed to be both distinct and greater than themselves. It is possible to increase one's mental power and working capacity to the extent that an individual may seem to have superhuman powers by stimulating the subconscious mind.

The first step is to understand how the subconscious mind operates so that we can make the best use of its potential. Keep in mind that the subconscious and the conscious mind have the following differences:

1.While the conscious mind operates using rational thought, the subconscious uses symbols.

2. Where our conscious mind is good at figuring things out, our subconscious is good at doing things that we already know and have done prior. These include our skills and habits.

3. While the conscious mind works hard to understand things, the subconscious doesn't care how things work. Instead, it will use the first thought that comes across.

4. Where the conscious mind spends time in determining how things work for the sake of knowledge, the subconscious will proceed by doing things in the way it is used to.

By virtue of learning how to make these two cooperate, we will improve both our life skills and our control over our emotions.

Consider these tips in training your subconscious.

Since the subconscious mind acquires knowledge through repetition, not by logic, you need to create a mental picture of what you wish to direct your subconscious to produce. Picture this idea in your mind's eye, and feel its meaning with consciousness. You will need to repeat this visualization process several times a day.

Since the subconscious will respond to the impression, suggestion, desire, expectation, and the direction of the conscious mind provided that the two are touching each other at the moment that the directions are being made, the mind needs be in a meditative state. It should be calm and poised.

The subconscious possess the ability to remove what we don't want from both our physical and mental state. All that is needed is a very clear idea of what we do want, in short, a goal.

Because whatever we think about deeply or intensely, our subconscious will take up and magnify even further, we should never of failings, shortcomings, or bad habits. We need to focus on positive thoughts.

Because focusing on too many things at once might confuse the subconscious, remember to concentrate only on one thing at a time.

Using your whole mind, both the conscious and the subconscious part, to finding a solution to any problem, will always result in a solution. This is because you are, in effect, using your full potential.

Remember that in all things, practice makes perfect. The more we train, the easier our subconscious adapts to the process. It is important to be determined and to believe that the endeavor will work. We must also give the process sufficient time to work.
