subject: A Gravity Water Filter Should Be Part Of Your Survival Gear [print this page]

People every where have begun to me more and more conscious of the real possibility that some sort of disaster situation could be a part of their future. Those that live in flood zones or earthquake prone areas are seeing more of these natural occurrences taking place, in out country and all over the world. Some thing it has a lot to to with impending doomsday, while other think it is just nature doing what nature sometimes does and always has. Either way, it is not such a bad idea to have a survival pack ready just in case especially if you know that some disaster is more likely where you live.

It does not have to be just an earthquake or flood that could cause you to evacuate your home. Even if you manage to stay there, you might not have any power or running water. Having as much bottled water as you can on hand is a smart thing to do in these circumstances, but what will you do when your bottled water runs out? People can not survive without water and in case you have not noticed in places like Haiti that recently had a huge earthquake, one of their most immediate needs was clean water. It is so easy for the water supply where you live to become contaminated or cut off and it it essential for your survival to have it.

It might be possible to catch rain water or get it from a nearby stream, river or even a lake, but it will not be fit to drink unless it is cleaned. The best and easiest way to get this done is by having a gravity water filter. They are larges enough to hold at least a couple of gallons of water at a time, which means they are still portable enough to take with you if you must leave your home. They are a great way to make sure you get your water as pure as possible without having to worry about batteries or electricity to operate it. Gravity alone causes it to drip from a filtered tank into a holding tank where it is clean and ready to drink.

These gravity water filters range in price from a couple of hundred dollars and up usually. They have the filter capacity to remove many types of bacteria, pesticides, herbicides, lead, rust and so many more contaminates that can make water unhealthy to drink. The gravity water filter you buy should list the contaminates it is able to remove from water. The filters should last you for years with proper maintenance, so that is another plus. You need not worry about having to find a new filter anytime soon if you are in an emergency situation.
