subject: Joikuspot For Nokia N97 [print this page] One of my friend has a constant gripe with his Nokia N97. You see, he has subscribed for an unlimited data plan with his cellular service and enjoys the Internet access while travelling. But he also has recently purchased a netbook.
He wanted use his Nokia N97's Internet on the netbook. Which was easily fulfilled by connecting the phone to the device via the USB cord. Demanding fellow that he is, now he wants to do the same without the cord! It's too much of a hassle to carry it around, he says. And two-three computers or netbooks cannot be connected to Nokia N97 if they all want to share Nokia N97's data.
Nokia seems to have realised this that's why they included the amazing application called JoikuSpot.
JoikuSpot takes your Nokia N97 or bmw such smartphone's Intendt connection and easily makes it available over WiFi to any device that seeks to connect. Essentially, the tool turns your Nokia N97 into a WiFi hotspot (or WLAN, to be precise)!
All you need to do is open the application and select the 'access point' (the Internet service you will be using) and you are done.
Now, when my friend fires up his JoikuSpot, his laptop/netbook detects the connection as an available WiFi access point in the network. Connect and start surfing!
There are a few limitations, though: For one, the freeware 'Light' version supports only HTTP browsing. So while you will be able to surf the web with ease, you can't use it for accessing your email clients.
The premium version fixes this little issue and also reconnects automatically in case the network gets disconnected. The latter doesn't sound like a big deal till the frustration of a broken network while uploading or downloading a file hits you square in the gut.
