Being able to accept the Holy Eucharist is one important event in the life of every Catholic. A child will have the chance to receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist when he or she reaches the age of 7 or 8. It is perceived that any child can understand the meaning of the sacrament. Most Catholic families would prepare for this kind of event. For female children, they would normally wear white satin First communion dresses paired with white gloves and veil. For the male children, the attire would be black pants, white long sleeves and black tie. Parents are really very eager to see their child participate in this once in a lifetime event; that's why they make sure that everything is well prepared including the communion dresses.
First Communion is a very sacred religious practice of all Catholics; this is celebrated with dignity and sanctity; that is why participant of this event also called as First Communicants wear their very special Sunday church outfit. Before a child can receive the Holy Sacrament he or she must have received the Sacrament of Baptism. Also in order to prepare the children before the First Communion they must have a clean heart and conscience. To achieve the clean heart and conscience the children must do their first Confession. During the confession the child would make a list in details of the not-so-good things done in the past.
Once the event is over, the family would usually prepare a small party to celebrate this once in a lifetime event. This is one of the festive celebrations that happen in the life of the children and the parents would do everything to make sure that it will be a memorable event not only for them as parents; but most especially for their child.
