DHEA is also known as dehydroepiandrosteroneDHEA is also known as dehydroepiandrosterone. DHEA is one of the natural hormones produced by the adrenal gland in the human body. During the period of our growth, the level of this hormone is very high in the blood. As the age of the person increases, the requirement of this hormone in the body but, its production decreases.

DHEA is mainly related to the youth, the energy levels, sharp memory, good mood, muscle tone, active metabolism and proper sex drive. The level of DHEA start to decease as the age increases.

DHEA has been researched internationally in the areas like bone density, adrenal insufficiency, HIV treatment, chronic fatigue syndrome, treatment of the cholesterol, insulin resistance, immune system, lupus, erectile dysfunction, obesity, problems of libido and aging problems.

DHEA has also been focused in the areas of brain. It plays an important role in the brain and acts a mood enhancer. This means that it is very useful in the treatment of depression and in many other symptoms that affect the person after the age of 50. There are many cases in which the depression is due to the decreased level of libido in the body, anxiety, decrease in the energy level and emotional imbalances.

It has been noticed that there is decrease in the insulin level due to DHEA. The lower level of insulin is linked with the higher plasma ratios between the insulin and lipolytic hormones. DHEA has also been linked with the higher efficiency level of lipolysis which is the weight loss for fat.
