Greenwich Village, also known as simply the Village is famous for its funky boutiques and great music venues. For the music lover, there's no better place to catch a show any night of the week. For those that are into spoken word poetry and live music, check out the Bowery Poetry Club in the East Village. Also located in the East Village is the legendary Webster Hall, known for its techno beats and all night parties. If all that music is making you hungry, try to snag a reservation at The Spotted Pig. Famed chef April Bloomfield takes her food to new heights at the restaurant to see and be seen; a far cry from making mac n' cheese at your condo.
No Practice Needed
How do you get the Lincoln Center? Practice! Or, in this case, a cab from your condo will suffice. Lincoln Center, located on the Upper West Side in New York City is the world's leading performing arts center and is comprised of 12 Resident Organizations including the New York Opera, Philharmonic and the Ballet. Want a date with a little culture woven in, take that special someone to Lincoln Center. With over 15 acres, the historic campus has something for everyone.
Walk on History
There's nothing better than taking an evening stroll through New York City and there's no better place to do it than at the High Line. Located in the Meatpacking District, the High Line was built in the 1930s, as part of a massive public-private infrastructure project, lifting freight traffic 30 feet in the air. The line has not been used since the 1980's and recently reopened as the go-to place to stroll around and take in some of the best scenic views of the city. The first section which runs from Gansevoort Street to West 20th Street, opened June 9, 2009. The second section, from West 20th Street to West 30th Street, is slated to open in 2011.
New York City provides anyone with the perfect backdrop for an amazing evening. With all that the city has to offer, you're only limited by your imagination.
