The Internet has come a long way since the days of its inception many years ago. Before, it was only a research tool for guys in white coats to quickly and easily share information back and forth. Nowadays, it's not uncommon to watch TV, and have a video chat with your friend from another continent at the same time. The Internet started with the idea of sharing a few simple text files.

A few years later, the world wide web was produced. This was a metaphorical name based on the scheme of a spider web, where every fiber is coupled to a bunch of other strands through connecting nodes, which were referred to on the Internet as links. It still wasn't all that accepted, and was only used by students and professors as a means to stay in communication.

Soon after, as dial up speeds amplified, and the initial cable modems were created, folks, and businesses, started to see the intense possibility of this new fangled development. As download speeds enlarged, folks could find more and more cool stuff online. From text files, to harmless pictures, to succinct videos, and to the existing situation of streaming live video in face to face chats.

Just only a few years ago, it was not obligatory for a business to have a web site. It was more of a presence than anything else. But today, many businesses do the majority of, if not all, of their selling online. What is probably the main, and most well know online company that traumatized the hundred year old brick and mortar archetype was Amazon. Simply an online shop that delivered hard commodities to customers, they forever changed the way to do business.

Nowadays, a great piece of any companies marketing budget is portioned for online selling and promotion. When Google came up with the idea for ad words, and pay per click, it altered selling forever. Direct promotion has always been a money-making business, but until Google, it had always been a deliberate, mail order scale model. Not any longer.

Of course, along with that came a few dangers. Spyware and adware programs were created. To creep into your computer and stare at which web sites you surf on over to, and what kinds of documents you read, and even what kinds of things you may be typing in your email. According to the old mail order type of marketing, spyware and adware would be the counterpart of somebody breaking into your house to see what products you use, so they could dispatch you more targeted marketing. Of course, just like you can shelter your house from criminals with a strong lock, you can shelter your computer from spyware and adware programs with a superior anti spyware program. These will successfully get rid of any programs you previously have installed, and preclude further invasions. In short, in today's Internet setting, these programs are an absolute must.
