Number one is the best, and currently that is Google. I'm going to give you a few strategies to use four of the top Social Media sites, along with their Alexa ranking.
Facebook - Currently ranked #2, second only to Google. I recommend that you use your Profile Page for friends and family and then create one or more Fan Pages for business. The cool thing about a Fan Page is you can update it several times a day and gain followers, whereas with your email list if you mail more than once a day you will lose subscribers in droves.
YouTube - Currently ranked #3, behind only Google and Facebook. Whether you create talking head videos, screen captures videos, or some combination of both, you can reach your best prospects with medium they are most familiar with, TV. Video is the high road to tons of traffic, because it is the communication medium with which most people are familiar and influenced by.
Twitter - Currently ranked #11 in Alexa. The myth is that Twitter takes all your time. The reality is that for many people, their Twitter list is fast becoming more responsive that their email list. And it only takes 140 characters to communicate on Twitter. Each day you should use at least one tweet to invite your followers back to one of your web sites to increase your traffic on a regular basis.
EzineArticles - Currently ranked #130 on Alexa, which makes them the #1 Article Directory on the Internet. They currently receive over 1 million unique visitors a day, and you need to have your information in front of that many potential prospects. And the traffic that comes to EzineArticles is only the first level of traffic that you get. The second level is when people come to EzineArticles looking for content for their web site, blog or newsletter, and use your article. This gets you other peoples' traffic as well.
