Ready, Willing and
The current economy, among other things, has had a negative impact on those looking to retire. Stories continue to emerge about failed retirement accounts and an elderly workforce that had to change plans. At the same time a new generation is discovering an alternative to the concept of early retirement.
Those who've already retired and find themselves back behind a checkout counter making minimum wage are even worse off. Having tasted retirement and then being fed, "Go back to work!" is almost as bad as being told, "There are no jobs."
I've met professionals as well as private business owners who both recognize that they simply can't go back to what they had done before. Either age is now a factor when approaching the bank for an investment loan or when trying to convince a CEO or review board that they still have enough good working years left.
Finding Your Inner Value
Many are being forced into the entrepreneurial mold but not everyone is getting the guidance necessary to survive let alone thrive. Choosing what to do in life is far easier than having that choice made for you.
Age is an advantage but unless the individual has some awareness of how their experience, talents and knowledge can be translated into private enterprise, age will only become an excuse.
Even if they're forced out of their comfort zone, people with prior knowledge of how personal development works and why it is so critical will seek the help they need regardless of their age.
Starting Over
Taking the first step is often the hardest because although opportunities abound for anyone of any age it still feels like stepping onto a lake that has recently frozen over. Even if you have the inner confidence to step out, slipping, sliding and falling are practical expectations.
Full disclosure should always include enough transparency so that new business owners are aware of what to expect.
1. What will you have to learn?
2. How much will you need to invest?
3. Who will provide the support you need?
4. Are there specific problems that others have encountered?
Something Even Better
The clearest path to success is when a person who knows exactly what they want and is willing to do what is necessary to accomplish their goals. Even though the path may have pitfalls and obstacles, having the correct mindset and the vision to see beyond what is to what will become is key.
Online home business opportunities have been described to me by former retirees as Better than Retirement' because the lifestyle is more vibrant and exciting than anything they'd ever known. They work far less with a greater return and they're attractive to others in their age bracket because they're lifestyle is an example of everything they didn't have in retirement but wanted.
Being able to meet positive encouraging people from all over the world and having the ability to go wherever you want for as long as you want does sound like early retirement. This is the exact lifestyle enjoyed by some who were looking to retire or had already retired. If it hadn't been for the economy' negatively affecting their portfolios, it's a lifestyle they would never have found.
