So if dancing until dawn is what you're after, look into some DC's hottest nightclubs. If you want a more intimate relaxed environment, make a reservation at one of the hundreds of restaurants that will be holding special New Year's Eve dinners and dancing. Hotels are another option. Some cater to a younger crowd, while others hold parties with excellent food, a relaxed environment, dancing, and a midnight champagne countdown.
Since New Year's Eve falls on a Friday, consider making a long weekend out of the holiday. There are not only some of the worlds most spectacular and historical sights and memorials to see, but there are incredible museums, and places to visit like the Library of Congress, The National Gallery - where you can ice skate surrounded by a beautiful sculpture garden, and of course, the White House.
Washington DC is very easy to get around. We have an excellent Metro Rail System, and plenty of taxis to get you to your d.c. new years eve destination. You may also want to consider visiting some of the outlying areas of DC and the Metro can get you there. There are plenty of things to do and see there as well.
