I had learned marketing the old way twenty years ago. You write a nice sales letter, buy some addresses, and send it out, or you distribute leaflets, or call people to offer them something -- or you can even put an ad somewhere etc. I thought I knew a little bit about marketing, so why not use that knowledge to earn some money from home while my daughter is at school?
No sooner said than done -- I convinced my husband to buy the Shoemoney System, so I could update myself as to the use of the internet in marketing today.
I had never heard of search engine optimization, nor did I know how to build a website, or what Google can do for you, besides finding things. I had of course heard words like Twitter and Facebook, but only at the evening news. I had never heard of StumbleUpon, Delicious, XING, Digg and all the others. I thought: "That is something for young people around their twenties to stay in touch, when leaving school." It never even vaguely came to my mind that you could use such sites for marketing purposes, other than placing an ad.
When Jeremy Schoemaker then gave his lesson about social media where he showed how to set up a Facebook account, I had no idea what this might be for. And when he then, at the end of the lesson, gave an enormously long list of social media sites where you need to have an account as well to be successful in internet marketing, I had perfectly no use for it. Now, after having read several of those countless e-books on "How to generate traffic", I can very well perceive the value of the lessons I received from the Shoemoney System.
I encountered this very same crux several times within that course. As I was an absolute beginner, I had no experience of any kind. Whenever I had done the first baby steps on some area which is also covered in this course, I found out how solid and honestly he compiled the information. There is just one step missing in whole system: exercises! If there were homework assignments at some points, it would be much easier to follow the information and make some money online.
