First you buy a domain name, it will cost you a few dollars a year, then you setup hosting (you can use free hosting at the beginning) and start creating a website. My favorite software to do this WordPress cos it's free and very very good but you can use anything you want. The website is mainly about content, interesting things you have to say about what you are selling. The trick here is to choose something you honestly believe is good, don't try to sell anything to anyone. Be honest and it will pay back a million times. To make sure you are credited for your sales you have to use your unique affiliate links. It is also a good idea to cloak them to make sure no one can deprive you of your commission.
Traffic
When you have a website with interesting content and your affiliate links in place you can start sending traffic to your site. With traffic there is only one important rule TRAFFIC HAS TO BE TARGETED. Quality over quantity, always. Did I mention traffic has to be TARGETED. That's it.
