Everyone Knows When They Are Ready for A Committed Relationship

Its a fact that people want commitment and committed relationships even if deep down they're afraid to admit it to themselves. Even people who say they're afraid of commitment long for it. People avoid commitments in relationships for reasons such as fear of rejection, fear of messing things up or even fear of being trapped.

These fears prevent people from actually making a commitment to someone in a dating relationship. We all want to be loved and cared for and cherished and this does not come without deep and sincere commitment. So whoever says no to commitment is dealing with the fear caused by hurt.

If you are in a relationship, one question raises its bothersome head soon enough. How long should you wait before you make a commitment This question cannot be answered in a straight forward manner. Each persons relationship and circumstance is different its impossible to make a general statement that applies to all. However, you can use certain guidelines to help steer your dating relationship in the right direction. This might provide guidance when you start thinking of taking that giant step towards commitment.

Both partners know when they're ready

You probably are ready when you both feel and know deep inside that you're ready.

Since people are of different types, commitment might not mean the same to all of us. What you mean by commitment may be very different than what your partner means by commitment. You need to first agree on the form of commitment that indicates a state that you both are comfortable with and can abide by.

Is your relationship mature enough for commitment

Talk to your friends and family and ask for their feedback on your dating relationship. Listen to their feedback and if it is positive, go ahead with the commitment you want. Since opinions differ, listen carefully and check if your dating relationship needs improvement. If you are mature, you will be able to take negative feedback and be able to work on those areas.

Do you have mature fights with your partner

All couples disagree with each other sometime or the other. If it hasn't happened to you yet, it should and it will. So when it happens, analyze what happened and see how you both handled your disagreement. Was the disagreement handled in a calm and mature way or did it explode all over the place Do you feel good about it in retrospect or do you regret the things you said or did Its not disagreements themselves that will make or break your relationship its how you handle them together.

When you are ready for commitment, discuss it with your partner honestly. If you dont get a positive vibe, it may be time to reconsider where you're going. If your partner is ready for a mature commitment, be sure to involve your families and friends. When you go public and people know that you are in a committed relationship, their very presence as witnesses make you feel accountable. Its with accountability that you find the motivation to change and grow.
