subject: Do You Have Hay Fever Or Just A Cold? [print this page]

Are you getting a cold? All of you at one time or the other will become hit with what is called the common cold. The really bad thing about this aside from you feeling terrible is that everyone in the home will probably receive it. This common cold will run through the family pretty quick. This cold is spread by germs that you send through the air when you sneeze or cough. Even with the using of hands to cover your mouth when sneezing or couching you can spread these germs simply by toughing anything without washing your hands first. When you get this common cold there is not really much you can take to get rid of it. This one you will have to let it run its course.

There are some of you that seem to get a cold all of the time and then some of you might get one certain times of the year. You can try to go to the store to find something to help tone it down but even these will not make it stop. Some of you might have problems with hay fever and it is important to not treat it like the common cold. The best thing to do when you get a cold is to go to your doctor to find out for sure what it is you have. He will be able to pinpoint the problem and maybe give you something to get through this time of sickness easier.

When you get a cold your body will start showing you signs. These might be soreness in your muscles or joints. You might be overly thirsty. Then your eyes might become puffy or itchy. Then of course is the dry scratchy throat, plugging of your ears and the plugging of your nose on top of all of this your might run a fever. If you get a cold like this in the spring you might just have hay fever as the same problems come with it. The only thing different between them is the coughing part.

The best thing for a cold is to get the medicine you need and stay warm in bed. If you find that you can not sleep then have some magazines or books that you can read while in bed. Have a box of tissues for your nose and a bottle or glass of water and just stay warm.
