subject: Local Job Search [print this page]

Narrowing your job search down to your own local area can be a very daunting task. Considering how long you have lived in the area you may be running into companies that you have already worked or companies that just are not hiring. No matter what the situation is you have to make yourself stand out of the crowd of competition. Practicing your interviewing skills with friends or family members is a great start. Going to the library and doing research on what employers are looking for in their candidates is also great.

You can also log on to www.vlitzo.com and click on preparing for a job interview link and they have great information that will help you in the interviewing process. Local job searching doesn't have to be a pain just get out early enough in the morning and hand out your resume and follow up in the afternoon with an online submission of your application. Most employers will require that you go online to submit an application but if you show up dressed up in the morning with your resume and submit an application online as well that will make you stand out of the crowd.

Follow up is very important when it comes to a local job search. Most employers have a ton of things to do throughout the day and could very easily forget to call you for an interview. But if you follow up with an employer - number one, it shows that you have drive and a lot of passion about getting hired and you have great determination.

So just remember when doing a local job search always do your research and make yourself more visible to employers to let them know you are serious about getting ahead in life.
