Damn your principles! Stick to your party.
The spirit of that adage is held true by the policies of today's politics. Politics without principles is one of the the seven sins that Gandhiji had put across but in today's era, politics without tricks is a bird without wings and a creative man whose wings of imagination have been clipped.
Today's politics has travelled long distances and is completely different from that which was practiced in the golden era. Today, a politician is all about being intoxicated in the ecstasy of "power" and "money ", which this noble profession provides. The political atmosphere has been enveloped in the darkness of scams and the words such as promise and believe have lost their sheen;
But still they come;
Conquer our juvenile imagination;
Garner votes;
And sleep over the mandate for the next five years.
They come for rallies, devoid of a tinge of shame, with goofy grins; they sway the crowd and bag the license to engrave blunders in the history; to make the mother country bleed.Flush with excitement and with disarming self depreciation, they swim across the pacific of false promises. Peoples' prayers fall on deaf years and they act in the manner they want.
The economic boom of India is witnessing roadblocks in the form of scams such as the "2G spectrum scam", the commonwealth games scam, and food grain scam in Uttar Pradesh etc. and politicians involved act as fence sitters to our accelerated growth.
"I always voted for my party's call and i never thought of thinking for myself at all".
When W.S Gilbert would have said these words , he would have sensed the tarnished policies of today.
The solution to the tarnished image of our country's politics is the youth. It's crystal clear that in order to bring out a colossal change, the person who expects the change must be at the helm of things. People like Rajiv Gandhi are the best epitomes who had fervid face offs with difficulties but came out victorious with his policies that stunned the country.
Rahul Gandhi who's carrying out his father's legacy is another epitome for the youth.
If divine beauty is to heaven then poly tricks are to politics.
But , as there is an end to every tunnel and hope ( in the form of light) awaits every traveller , there have been torchbearers to lighten us out of the void and one such torchbearer who has been in the limelight of late is " Nitish Kumar". His emphatic victory in the Bihar general elections give weight to the notion that people have not lost their concise and time and again they will rise from the cobwebs of castism and vote for development. As they say "when winter is here can spring be far behind ", we hope that things will change and the change will be good.
