subject: Glowing Health During Pregnancy - How This Can Be Achieved [print this page]

Many expectant mothers are worried about their health during pregnancy. Their bodies undergo many changes during this new stage of their life. It can be a constant concern, whether or not you have gained too much weight, whether you will get stretch marks, heartburn or varicose veins. There are many perceived negatives to being pregnant. Often forgotten is the joys and positiveness that should be associated with carrying a child which is YOURS! Allow yourself to feel beautiful at this special time in your life and revel in the beautiful experience of bringing a child into this world.

There are obviously things that you need to do to feel and look better, to help you be a picture of glowing health during pregnancy and afterwards.

The most important thing is to stay active and keep your levels of fitness up. This might sound easier than it is, as your energy levels could be low as your body is busy with 'making baby'. But no matter what sort of activity it is, it is very important to attempt something active at least once a day. Doing it early in the day before you no longer feel like it is a good idea, in fact you may even find it makes you more energetic the rest of the day.

You will need to ensure you eat nutritious well balanced meals to ensure you do not put on excess weight. Your doctor or research on the internet will be able to inform you what an acceptable weight gain is. But, don't forget that weight gain IS healthy; as it gives reassurance that the baby is growing as it should. If you watch what you eat and not use the pregnancy as a license to eat anything and everything, then weight gain / weight loss will not be an issue.

It is amazing how big a role stress can play in ones beauty. Ensure you get your rest and relax as much as possible. Take a breather, get a facial or go out with friends to ensure you enjoy this special time of your life.

At the end of the day, you are pregnant for just 40 weeks (some less, others longer :)), but still a relatively short time span in the scheme of things. Remember to savour this time and do not allow yourself to stress out about the changes you are going through. Come to terms with the fact that not all things are in your control during this time. Accept this reality and trust that everything will work out. If you manage to do these few things, you will glow with health during pregnancy.
