subject: The World Is Agog With Susan Boyle's Success. What Are Her Keys? by:Wendy Stenberg-Tendys [print this page] Everyone wants the inside information on what Susan Boyle's keys of success are. Here are just nine listed for you:
Passion
The judges and audience openly snickered, but this made no difference to Susan Boyle when she said "I'm trying to be a professional singer". She was passionate about the vision of where she was headed. Without feeling passionate about where you want to be five years from now, you will not succeed.
Ability to Accept Risk
Standing vulnerable and alone before thousands, what would you have done when the judges and the audience were openly antagonistic towards you. Would you have had the strength to take the risk continue on and sing? Or would your vocal cords have shut down with fear and humiliation and stage-fright? When asked how she felt right then, Susan replied "You have to go on, don't you"?
High Self-Esteem
Susan has a candid understanding of her talents, without being either arrogant or egotistical. Susan is a down to earth person, coming from the poorest region of Scotland. People have never given her an opportunity up until now. Susan however, had no self-doubt - the major destroyer of a thousand dreams".I'm going to rock that audience", she said in a semi-joking voice before setting out on that long walk to center stage.
Persistence
Susan is almost 48 years of age. Would you hold onto a dream for that length of time? Susan's voice didn't mature in just a few years.
Discipline
Without self-imposed discipline you will not go anywhere. To reach the dizzy heights you must have the discipline to follow through, no matter what the cost. She did what she had to do, even when she didn't feel like it. She had the willpower to impel herself forward. Self-discipline is never easy, even for the most successful people.
Non-egotistical
No one likes to be around a person, who is full of their own ego, no matter how good they are. The judges of 'Britain's Got Talent' have decided they will not give Susan a make-over yet. The frumpy, unemployed, volunteer church worker, could easily be your neighbour. She is however, comfortable with herself.
Patience
Rome was not built in a day. The old sayings keep going on. Yet they are true. It took Susan nearly 48 years to arrive at overnight stardom. She had the patience to keep going, no matter what opposed her.
Focus
Susan says, "Now I'll get focused, (for the next part of the reality talent show)". Unless you are prepared to stay focused and not let yourself be side-tracked, you will never achieve your dreams.
Talent
And of course Susan has great talent. The ability to naturally do something extraordinary. You need to recognize where your talents lie.
Susan's dreams became a reality. So can yours, if you will only Persevere, Have Discipline, be Patient, never never give quit and don't be frightened of seeing yourself the way others see you. No one is ever too old to learn something new.
