The Ageing Effects of the Party Season
The Ageing Effects of the Party Season

Aah, yes we all love a good party especially when the festive season lasts all month long. But as much as there's no harm in a few bottles of wine and a couple of mince pies thrown in, overindulgence over a concentrated period of time will take its toll on your body and your skin.

So how can we let our hair down and feel confident that we'll wake up looking fresh as a daisy and not a haggard old bag!

1.Stick to red wine...

Alcohol in general is not kindto our skin, but if you've got to drink stick to red wine as its not only good for ones cholesterol its also packed with anti-oxidants which are beneficial for ones skin. But alcohol is also very dehydrating so the minute you're drunk any positive benefits will be outweighed by the level of toxins in your system. So drink but avoid getting drunk!

2.Drink lots of water...

As mentioned above alcohol is very dehydrating on the skin, so all the more important to drink as much water as you can before and during a big night out. The more water you drink, the less likely you are to dehydrate your skin and your body which will not only make you feel better the day after but also ensure skin resembles that of a plumped peach the morning after as opposed to a shrivelled prune. Replace tea and coffee with water during the day where possible and aim to drink 2 litres the day before the party.

3. Always remove your make-up before bed...

There's often a tendency to get home from a party and collapse into bed. Leaving your make-up on overnight will not only make you look like a fright the morning after but will also age your skin. According to skin experts, your skin ages 8 days for every night you don't remove your make-up. Roll on the Christmas party season and it's no wonder you look like you've aged overnight by the time you hit the new year.

4. Get your beauty sleep...

It's called a beauty sleep for a reason. The temperature of your skin increases at night enabling nutrients to be absorbed more effectively but it's also a chance for your skin to regenerate and heel itself. This process takes place after 1am, so ideally you want to be tucked up and asleep by then in order to ensure your skin gets a fighting chance. Party till the early hours and you'll miss out. So do what you have to do to get to bed by 12:30am and you're skin will thank you for it.

5. Scrub the night away...

Eating and drinking to excess will make your skin look lack lustre and grey in pallor. To restore your youthful glow, make sure you give your skin a helping hand and exfoliate it using a microdermabrasion or gentle face scrub twice a week. This will remove any dead skin cells and stimulate blood flow to the skin restoring that peachy glowing flush.
