There is no question left concerning the safety and health consequences of tobacco smoking. Everyone knows that it is deadly and that when a person continues to smoke for many years, in the majority of cases those consequences are going to come in the form of death in one way or another. Tobacco smoking usually takes it's toll slowly over many years, but when it causes cancer in the body, there is never any guarantee that it will be years, but could mean life can be measured in months.

Since the addiction to tobacco can be so very bad for some people, many of them have turned to using an electronic cigarette as a means of inhaling what they believe is less harmful to them than tobacco smoking. However, the health benefits of switching from tobacco smoking to using a e cigarette has not been entirely proven at this point. There are some undeniable things about e cigarettes that might make it a better choice than tobacco, but people should not be disillusioned into believing that it is entirely safe. You will still be taking nicotine into your body and nicotine is addictive. The nicotine and the act of smoking is what keeps so many people chained to tobacco.

While e cigarette manufacturers can not make health claims concerning their product, they can tell you that their product will likely do less damage to the body over time than continuing to smoke tobacco according to the belief of many doctors and researchers as well. Their reasoning being that the electric cigarette is not supposed to have any tar and tar is one of the main contributing factors when it comes to causing problems and diseases in the respiratory system. Another undeniable fact about the e cigarette is the number of chemicals a person would be taking into their body is greatly reduced when compared with tobacco smoking. So, when a smoker considers that by using an electronic cigarette they are removing the tar and thousands of chemicals, then use of the nicotine without the rest does not seem as bad.

Make no mistake that it is never good to inhale anything into your body, but for those that are so severely addicted to smoking that they might never give it up, it could be that using an electronic cigarette might be the best choice between using it and smoking tobacco. Many smokers report that they feel better after stopping smoking tobacco and then using an e cigarette. They report that they have much less coughing and have more energy. Of course, these are only statements made by some that use the product and are not to be misconstrued as documented facts by the FDA. There needs to be more research done in order to prove without a doubt that using the electronic cigarette is less harmful, but many former tobacco smokers are already convinced that it is.
