Dry powder, foam cleaners and crystals cleaning is done by dispersing the cleaner, brushing into the fibers, either by hand or machine. Dirt binds to the powder or crystals and then vacuumed up. There is no drying time and great for all types of carpet fibers.

Bonnets are made from cotton or cotton blends, and attached to a rotary machine. Wet cleaners are put on the carpet and the bonnet scrubs up the dirt along with the cleaner. When each bonnet becomes dirty and wet the bonnet is replaced with a clean dry bonnet until all of the carpet has been cleaned. The drying time is shorter than with a how water and vac method.

With all carpet cleaning methods, thoroughly vacuuming is a must.
