subject: Inner Wisdom: The Most Powerful Personal Development Tool Known To Womankind [print this page] The idea of Personal Growth and Development, in my opinion, is about building and strengthening your relationship with your SELF. It's about understanding your SELF better, and improving your SELF-awareness. The better you understand how you tick, what your unique needs are, and what works for you (and what doesn't), the happier and more fulfilled you will be and the easier life will flow for you.
An integral part of building this relationship with yourself is to make the connection with your Inner Wisdom. Also known as your intuition, gut feelings, inner knowing, internal GPS; your Inner Wisdom is your connection to your most authentic, vulnerable and all knowing self.
You see, although we often look outside ourselves for the answers to many of our life challenges, we are the key holders to the Universal encyclopedia of knowledge that lies within.
Consider this. What if before you started this journey called Life, your Spirit created a 'blueprint' that among other things, contained all the questions about all the challenges and obstacles you would encounter during this Lifetime, as well as all the answers. Then you tucked this blueprint somewhere deep inside your soul, in a place only you could access. That sacred place is your Inner Wisdom.
When you have a strong connection to your Inner Wisdom, life flows with ease and joy. Clear signs that you are moving in the right direction appear as well as visceral indications that you have gone off your path.
You know what I mean, right? When you feel the heaviness in your chest, or the tightness in your throat, or your stomach is doing flip-flops, it's your Inner Wisdom speaking to you through your body. Sending you the signals to regroup and check back in.
When I first made that connection with my Inner Wisdom, I finally knew I was not alone. I finally understood the power of my Inner Wisdom and for me that translated into Higher Power. Now this is not about religion, at least not for me. It's about knowing that no matter what life sends my way I have a connection with my SELF and my SPIRIT that will guide and support me with grace, love and confidence.
I have faith that the decisions I make are the right ones for me and that if they are not I have the confidence to embrace what I need to learn from that experience and surrender to the greater plan of the Universe.
So how do you go about building this connection to your Inner Wisdom?
Try this for starters:
1. Create an Inner Support Team ~ Consider the areas of your life that you would like to enhance. What skills, talents, or opportunities would you like to build upon? Think of someone you know ~ past or present, living or not ~ who possesses this same energy you would like to acquire. Now close your eyes and tap into their energy and activate it within you. What does it FEEL like to have this energy? What is possible for you now that this energy is active in you?
2. Ask Yourself Often 'What do I need now?' ~ Place in various key areas an index card with this question. Be sure to PAUSE and allow yourself the gift of receiving an answer from within. Don't get discouraged if an answer doesn't come right away. This is like building a muscle; it takes practice.
3. Practice Yoga ~ The word Yoga literally translates into 'union'. During this silent practice the mind gets to stop all internal conversation and concentrate on creating it's union with body and Spirit.
