subject: Seo Marketing Picking Your Keywords So You're Found In The Search Engines [print this page]

SEO marketing, where do you start? You start by having a good set of keywords. I'll usually start out with 50 search phrases. After that I'll examine the search volume of each word to get a good indication of the kind of traffic I'll get. Then I look at the competition. After this step is done, I'll take these words and build content around them.

Pay-per-click is good to test your keywords in. I'll take a look at how many clicks each phrase gets and figure out a return on my investment. The keywords that get a lot of clicks, I'll use. I narrow the list down to about 25 words by now.

These are the keywords that will make me money. The keywords that I cut out I don't use. No point in it when you have better search terms.

Now I look at the longer tailed keywords and write content around them. I'll do my search engine optimization on these words first then I'll move my way up my list. I work at getting links, write articles and social bookmark.

By this time I'm already ranking for the longer tailed keywords. Now I'll work on the words that are left on my list. They are usually more competitive. My job is easy ranking for the longer tailed keywords and if I do this job correctly the others won't be that much of a problem either.

This is about the time where my list of keywords gets to be around 300 search phrases. Now I'll work on my content. I work more on my off page optimization that I do with my on page optimization. The next step is to write good quality articles. I'll take a little bit of time and work on my content because I don't want my website looking bad for the visitors that come. I want them to come back. Now I'll look for someone's product to sell.

The articles you write on your website don't have to be long. I like to keep them short, but I packed them with tons of content. When people come to your website you want them to have a good feeling about it to where it entices them to come back. Put up a mailing list to collect the names and email address of the people that stop by your site. Put up a good offer to motivate them to sign up. Ask the visitor to do things and track to see how many people follow your commands. This is the time that I'll put in someone else's product and I'll ask the person for the sale. I can't tell you how important it is to work hard to get a good mailing list. Doing this along with good keyword research will help you out in your SEO marketing plan.
