subject: Treating Adhd Using Natural Remedies [print this page]

These are typical questions that I am regularly asked on my radio show. A recent show features an interview with a mother whose child was diagnosed as having ADHD. The school he was attending then wrote him off as just a 'naughty boy'. For his Mom it was bad enough that she was avoided and rejected by neighbours who would avoid her when they saw her, but what broke her heart was how it affected her son and how he lost his self esteem and confidence.

He would be told off for things like sitting on his leg on his chair, not holding his pen right and feeling the wall as he left the classroom. Eventually, things got so bad, it affected her relationships and her husband left her.

When she asked her Doctor about her son's behavior, he told her he had a problem with the way he perceived his surroundings. He liked to sit on his leg when sitting on his chair as this gave him a sense of security and balance. When he held a pen as suggested by the teacher, his muscles hurt and the reason he touched the walls was - using touch to navigate his way around the school.

It is so easy to jump to conclusions when analysing a child's behavior, far better to understand the child and their behavior rather than fit them into an arbitary set of symptoms. It is important that children's behavior is analysed and treated properly.

Even if you are not a regular listener, you can download podcasts of these interviews, even if only to show you that you are not alone with your problems! Sound familiar? Don't worry, you are not alone, there are lots of parents going though a bad time coping with their children's behavior, but help is available using only natural remedies and child focussed techniques that can help you understand and alleviate these problems.

This is a classic situation where the Mom needed to take the same natural remedies for ADHD as her child to help them both through ADHD in a natural drug free way.
