subject: Ost File Corruption Post Anti-virus Upgrade [print this page]

Problem in synchronization of the OST (Offline Storage Folder) file and Microsoft Exchange Server primarily arise when the OST file becomes corrupt. Few major causes of corruption of an OST file are upgradation of anti-virus, virus infection, and human mistakes. In most cases of OST file corruption, users encounter error message that do not allow him/her to synchronize the file with the server. To surpass those error message after OST file corruption, users need to restore their file from an updated backup. However, in situations of deficient or corrupted backup, users need to Convert OST to PST (Personal Storage Folder) and access the records.

Consider a practical case, wherein you perform an anti-virus upgrade in your system. However, after doing so, when you try to access the OST file after upgradation, it does not open. On viewing the synchronization log, you get the following error message:

The above error message in synchronization log appears when the OST file gets corrupted due to anti-virus upgradation.

Resolution:

To resolve the above error message and to access the data saved in the OST file, the user needs to perform OST to PST conversion. To do so, the user needs to opt for a third-party Convert OST to PST file application. Such software use powerful, yet safe conversion algorithms to perform conversion.

Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Desktop is one of the best applications for converting OST file to PST file. The software can Convert OST to PST in only three mouse clicks. Compatible with MS Outlook 2003, 2002, 2000, 98 and 97, the utility is competent enough to convert OST to PST after any logical damage.
