Sentence correction questions are one of the formidable sections of the GMAT that very often makes test takers sweat. This section tests test takers ability to find multiple errors in a sentence. However, by following a few tips youll be able to maximize your score in this section.

In the GMAT Sentence Correction questions, you will get a sentence part of which is underlined. This underlined portion of the test is supposed to contain errors. This question will be followed by five answer choices that seem to contain words that correct the underlined part of the question. Your job is to find out this option. In order to do this, read the entire sentence first before reading the answer choice. Remember that the first choice, ie. (A) simply copies the underlined portion of the sentence and is true in a very few cases. It doesnt mean that you should ignore it altogether. While reading pay meticulous attention to error that may contain in various forms. You may get errors in terms of the usages, subject-verb agreements, grammar, clarity of expression etc. However, dont worry about punctuation for it is not tested in the GMAT Reading Comprehension.

Following the elimination process, eliminate irrelevant options that sound awkward to you. Dont select a choice just because it is grammatically correct. It cannot be considered to be correct if it does not provide clear expression. You will always encounter the second best answer choice. In such a case trust your ear and go for that which seems to be the best to you. However, practice as many GMAT practice questions as possible to optimize your chance of getting a good score.
