If your looking to improve pc performance you need to look no further than your own Windows operating system for most of the answers. In order to improve pc performance you must do a little maintenance just like you would do with your vehicle.

In your Windows operating system you should have Disk Cleaner and Disk Defragmenter. Go to Programs > Accessories > System Tools> Disk Cleaner or Disk Defragmenter. Use these tools regularly so that your system will stay clean and organized. If your files are organized then it will not take as long for your pc to find them and go to them.

It is also important to clean your pc's registry. The registry is a housing for ever-expanding files that hold a large collection of details about your pc: Where your programs are stored, paths to documents, and where your photos and music are saved. Think of your system's registry as the brain of your pc. Using a registry cleanup tool properly should improve pc performance allowing it to startup faster and run more efficiently.

Using a good antivirus software package is essential to keeping a healthy pc as well. Otherwise, your files and system will be infected with malware that will disable your system or allow outsiders to access your information. Spyware, adware, and trojans will corrupt your system causing it to crash and/or slow your system down considerably.

So in order to improve pc speed you must consistently maintain your pc with tools that you already have and with the few tools that you purchase, such as antivirus software and a good registry cleaner. Most antivirus software packages are similar in what they offer. The more expensive antivirus software doesn't always mean the best so don't be fooled by price. Do a little research or ask somebody that has pc knowledge. Cleaning your registry can come with some risk so make sure the registry cleaner you purchase is compatible with your system. The registry cleanup tool will state what systems it's compatible with before you scan your pc for registry errors.

You would be surprised with what a little maintenance could do to help improve pc performance. Just ask yourself, 'how long would my vehicle last if I never changed the oil?' My bet is that your vehicle wouldn't last very long and would probably be beyond repair, just like your pc would if you neglected to take the proper maintenance procedures you need to improve pc performance.
