subject: Remove Stress And Tension From Your Days [print this page]

Today, our time can easily be compartmentalized into various segments. Some of these segments are home time, work time, study time, leisure time, etc. In spite of all the compartmentalization, we are not usually able to remove stress from our lives.

This does not mean that you should continue to live with stress in your life. The first step to relieve yourself of stress is to start organizing your life so as not to overburden yourself.

One such rule is to define your tasks and set the time according to your tasks. If you are working for eight hours a day, then you should make sure that you have made a list of tasks that can be comfortably completed in those eight hours. This might call for some prioritization.

Another good tip is not to take your work home with you, either physically or mentally. You can't change what happened, so try not to obsess over it. There's always tomorrow for things to be different. It doesn't all have to be solved in a day.

It's also important to get plenty of sleep at night. That may mean limiting distractions, like TV. It could also mean having a relaxing cup of tea or reading a few chapters in a favorite book. Whatever helps you to wind down, do it before bed.

You must try to unwind before you sleep. This would help you sleep properly. If you do not have a good night's sleep, then lack of sleep will leave you even more stressed.

You also need to accept that there are certain things that are beyond your control. Accepting that will make it easier for you to live with those things and thereby reduce stress.

One more important rule to remember is that you must not try to become 'Aunt Agony' for everybody on the face of this Earth! Hearing out your friends and relations is important, but not at the cost of your own health. Give yourself priority. This is the biggest stress-buster.
