Communal tensions prop up quite frequently in Pakistan, but still it has never come across as a barrier in the development of the various tertiary sectors. The government of Pakistan has maintained the pace of its growth and has constantly formulated the measures which could be of the favor of the citizens. One such example is the introduction of VoIP calls to Pakistan. The major reason behind its acceptance is that it facilitates people to make cheap calls as compared to other mediums like STD, ISD and local, which are quite expensive.

Voip is known as Voice over Internet protocol and it enables the callers to have a word with the desired user at a reduced price. To have conversation through VoIP, the user needs to have a computer having an access to broadband connection and a landline instrument. Both these instruments would be joint through wires, so that the user can have an effective conversation at a lower price. There are certain formalities which need to be completed to implement VoIP for the daily use. It could be a verbal request to the regular service providers or an online form. These formalities are conducted for the registration purposes and soon as they are complete the user is allowed to make cheap VoIP calls to Pakistan without any hurdles.

Since a lot of growth has been witnessed in the Telecom sector of Pakistan therefore VoIP, has definitely created a stiff competition for the established players. Its not only the the regular service providers, who make VoIP accessible to the user but Internet is also a major player in this field. There are many calling and entertainment portals, which helps the user to make VoIP calls. The caller is required to complete all the formalities by browsing on certain options available on websites. In addition to to all these facilities the user can also have a video conferencing with the receiver, with the presence of web cam.

As it is popularly said that there are two sides of a coin. Similar is the case with VoIP, because if it has may advantages then limitations are also not far behind. One of the biggest limitation of this facility is that it is not wireless. In today's time when the usage of portable devices has become a trend than it is definitely going to disturb a caller to make a call by connecting various wires with PC and modem. In extension to this, VoIP is not easily accessible on cellphones. There are very few companies who have launched this facility in which due to a software download VoIP can be used. If the user ignores these disadvantages then the the process of PC to phone calling has proved to one of the finest modes of interaction.
