subject: How To Enjoy Great Health During Pregnancy!! [print this page]

Don't let yourself go because you have discovered you are pregnant! Your health during pregnancy is of the utmost importance, so do not use it as an excuse to eat anything in sight, to indulge in cravings and to stop any form of physical activity you might participate in.

Lots of new moms find themselves making excuses like "Well if I'm craving it, then it may have something in it that the baby needs." Sometimes this is true - but at other times is a complete misconception. Sometimes a craving is your body telling you what deficiency you have, but most times it is an indication of poor nutrition or overindulgence. As an example, if you crave foods with high sodium, it is possibly an indication you are eating too much food which is high in sugar. Once you know the code, it is much easier to handle the cravings and deal with them in the right way.

Good nourishment makes a big difference to how you go through the pregnancy. You must admit, when you have a big belly, have aches and pains and feel nauseous - the last thing you can be bothered with is cooking a nutritious meal. In all honesty, though, this is the reason that most expectant ladies put on more weight than allowed and feel depressed throughout their pregnancy. They are simply not looking after themselves!

Facts tell us that the baby will take what it needs from the mother, even if that means taking calcium from their bones or depleting their iron reserves making them anaemic. So if you really want to take care of yourself, you must ensure you give your baby the nutrients it needs to grow from the food that you eat, rather than from your body reserves. If you do, you will enjoy great health during pregnancy and possibly even avoid morning sickness, hair loss, and other negative pregnancy side effects.

Sometimes I get the impression that to be expecting is 9 months to struggle through, that pregnant ladies have to put up with putting on a lot of weight, and feeling fat and frumpy with absolutely no energy to do anything. But don't think like that! Be determined to look good and have tons of energy while pregnant, because you can if you look after yourself!! Do all that you can to achieve optimum health during pregnancy . . . don't let yourself go!!
