subject: Remembering Early Edition - A Show About Tomorrow's News [print this page]

Early Edition was a show that started in 1996 on CBS and lasted 4 seasons before it was eventually cancelled. What made this show unique was its interesting concept. This show was about a man named Gary Hopson (played by Kyle Chandler), who gets the newspaper a day ahead of time. This allows him to see what will happen on the current day, and can stop various accidents from happening.

In addition to having an interesting concept, the show also had an entertaining cast. The main character, Gary Hopson, is the typical "good guy." He always does what is right and tries to help everyone out. His best friend, Chuck Fishman (played by Fisher Stevens), and he often has the personality of being a bit silly and making dumb, but funny mistakes. These two are also accompanied by their friend, Marissa Clark (played by Shanesia Davis-Williams), who is a blind lady that helps out her friends with their problems. The cast works well together, and make the show very entertaining.

Each episode, the characters in the show often face various problems when trying to stop the accidents that appear in the newspaper. Sometimes the problems are a result of ignorance or are simply something that just can possibly be stopped. These types of problems provide for an interesting show. However, as good as the show was, it was eventually cancelled. However, CBS has decided to release the first and second season of the show on DVD which have become quite a success.
