subject: What Makes A Hybrid Car Different? [print this page]

Many people may perhaps think over this matter, but a lot people have been asking the same question repeatedly since ages. When the primary car appeared, it was questioned as being a feasible and dependable substitute to the horse drawn carriage. Is not asking the same question ironical when airlines presented to transport people across borders and from different continents by air?

Most of us have used the idea of conventional car over the period. Nevertheless, we definitely need alternative in transportation due to the damage the road pollution is causing to the environment. Unbelievably, every car owner wishes that the car would start every time he or she turns the ignition switch.

The hybrid cars are known to offer a substantial saving in fuel costs, lower road taxes in many countries, and a car that is sure to start when the key is turned in the ignition. We all know that the oil resources are limited, and they are diminishing, as they are being consumed. With more cars on the roads, this natural resource will only diminish more until the time the last drop of oil is exhausted. Therefore, Hybrid cars are made as a first step of the effort to reduce the rate of oil consumption, and to prolong the time of the oil resources.

The best feature of hybrid cars is that they burn far less fuel than conventional cars, and they do not require to be plugged in to an electric outlet to revitalize the batteries, which means that they are self-sufficient. A hybrid car does not finding the middle ground on presentation; in actuality, it improves the presentation, as it comes with two individual power sources to compel it. The gasoline engine of a hybrid car has a considerably longer life, as it is not used constantly.

Most hybrid cars do not even turn on the gasoline engine if they are moving at less than 30 miles per hour. The electric motor drives the car, and the constant starting/stopping in rush hour traffic generates the batteries, and gives the electric motor enough charge to propel the car efficiently. A hybrid car does not compromise on performance just because it has a smaller gasoline engine. The electric motor provides ample power when required to propel the car.

If compared a hybrid car is far well organised, and cleaner than the conventional petrol driven car. It has lesser CO2 emissions, which we are well acquainted with, as they are the major cause of global warming. A hybrid car consumes less fuel than a car in the similar class, as it has a slighter gasoline engine.

A hybrid car does not compromise on performance or efficiency, and requires fewer trips to the service center. Luxury does not have to be compromised, as has been well demonstrated by the luxury car line of Toyota, i.e. Lexus. Starting from their top of the line luxury car, the LS 600 to their SUVs, they have successfully introduced the hybrid technology.

If Lexus can successfully sell high-end luxury cars that use hybrid technology, than they understand their customers better than other luxury carmakers. The myth that people who buy luxury cars are not bothered about saving the Earth, or polluting the environment is dispelled. Look at the number of celebrities driving hybrid cars, and you get a fair idea that hybrid cars are the future.
