High Voltage Termite Control

Using high voltage electricity to control termites is not the latest new fad in eco-friendly termite solutions. Most people have never heard about high voltage termite control but this technology has been around for decades. I first used the Electro-Gun over 20 years ago when Etex Ltd. first started licensing companies to use the equipment. At that time, the Electro-Gun was only licensed to a small group of pest control companies, one of which was owned by my father. Twenty Years later the Electro-Gun is used in several states and has made its way to other countries including South America, Polynesia, and Portugal.

The Electro-Gun has proven itself over the past 20 years and with the rise in demand for non-chemical termite control solutions you can be sure that more consumers are going to look for companies that offer the Electro-Gun treatment. Using high voltage to treat items such as furniture, picture frames, cabinets, and wood flooring is ideal because the high voltage current will seek out the termites without the need to drill holes to access the termite galleries. High voltage termite control can be used in most areas of a structure as long as it is accessible to reach with the Electro-Gun equipment.

The ElectroGun uses a patented design to safely convert standard 120v, 60 cycle house current into 90,000 volts at 60,000 cycles per second, but at a very low current. The high voltage is able to overcomes the natural resistance of wood and penetrate to find termites hiding within. This occurs because the air in the termite galleries and the moist bodies of the termites offers less resistance to the high voltage current than the wood.

Most of the termites are killed instantly by direct electrical shock from the high voltage current emitted by the ElectroGun. Termites that don't take a direct hit from the current flow, but only a minor shock will still die within 2-6 weeks. The minor shock appears to kill the microscopic, symbiotic protozoan parasites that live in their digestive system. This makes it impossible for them to digest cellulose and leads to the collapse of the termite colonies.
