2. Company Blog: A blog is a great tool to promote your products, services and/or your organization. An interactive blog can help connect to customers, and keep your business website from becoming stale. Choosing an appropriate blog style for your business website depends on the type of information being communicated, the frequency of information updates and writing style of contributors. Ensure that you decide on a focus on your blog, and allow for personal and professional writing styles to appear in your blog posts. Think about your expertise and more importantly, think about the things that you're interested in writing about. A blog requires a long term investment of time (and resources), and you don't want to be stuck writing about things that bore you.

3. Social Networking Sites (e.g. Linked-In/Twitter/Facebook): There is an ever increasing amount of social networking sites that will enable your business to showcase its products & services to a larger than before customer base. Each networking site has its strengths. Do research each of them to understand how each power feature can best serve your organization. This is time-consuming as it requires identifying areas (e.g. forums, groups, linked-in pages, twitter messages) where you can post links of your website/blog. This will increase traffic to your website thus improving your rank in the search results listing. There are other methods that can improve the rank such as tagging or applying keywords. It can take a while till you see results on your website ranking, but it is definitely worth it.

5. Advertisements: The visibility of your website can depend on paid versus natural techniques. Some examples of paid is using Google AdWords, where you can buy advertising space on the right-hand side on search results page on Google. Based on certain search keywords, your advertisement will be displayed and give users an opportunity to find out more about your product/services. Natural technique is a combination of things mentioned in the first 4 bullets.

6. Tracking: Whether or not you are a part of the conversations, people will talk about your company. How do you monitor and, when appropriate, join those discussions?
