subject: Birthday Party Games - Some Great Ideas [print this page]

Birthday party games are perfect for any birthday party. They add lots of fun, and can make people laugh at parties that might normally be considered "boring." Both adult and children's parties can benefit from these games.

Any child's birthday party should have birthday games. These games can help kids have more fun, and will help them to release their pent up energy. Games are especially fun for kids because they can get candy or prizes from them. Prizes can come in many forms: kids can all get prizes at the end of the game, the winner can get the only prize, or prizes can be saved for the end and be given out in "goody bags".

One of the most popular child party games is "pin the tail on the donkey." Traditionally a donkey is used as the centerpiece and kids try to pin or stick tails onto its behind. However, with this game, you can use just about any large poster that kids will pin the "tail" on. You can use the birthday boy or girl's favorite cartoon character, for instance. Also, you do not have to make it the tail - you can use a nose, a bow, or any other part.

Another game that can be used at children's parties is a pinata. This is also a very common game, which gives the kids tons of candy. Basically, kids just take turns using a stick to try to break open a paper mache animal. Once it is broken, it pours candy all over the kids and they try to pick up as much as they can. The two issues with this game are making sure that all kids get candy, and making sure that no one gets injured.

Scavenger hunts are also lots of fun for kids. They begin with a clue, which brings them to the next station with the next clue. This game lets kids get up and run around, and they have a lot of fun reading the clues and figuring out where to go next. At the last station kids can get candy or other prizes for a job well done.

Kids can also play a fun game called a "memory game." With this game, you put a bunch of different objects onto a tray. You bring the tray over to the group of kids, and they try to remember every object on the tray. After about a minute you can remove the tray, and they write down every item that they remembered. Whoever remembers the most objects wins a prize.

For adults, board games can make birthday parties more fun and exciting. They can add more of a social element to the party, and will increase the energy level. Great social party games include Taboo, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, and Catchphrase.

Party games for adults can also include traditional party games, like charades. Charades tends to get a bad rap, but it can be very fun, especially when everyone at the party is close friends. You can change the rules around if you want. For instance, you can allow people to speak or make sounds if you wish. The most important thing is that the party guests be able to guess the answers.
