Did you just get your ebook published? Congratulations. You are now on the same boat as me and many other writers. It is a moment of pride and joy to be published and in order to sustain this happiness, you will have to promote your ebook which is another term for saying that you will have to get the word out.
Right now, you are the only person who knows that this ebook has been published. Your reader is sitting somewhere miles away from you, maybe in Nigeria or India. They are just getting along with their normal lives. They have no clue that a book has been published. For that matter, as you are reading this article, probably a book is being published somewhere in the the world. But do you know anything about it?
This is why book promotion is so essential. It does not make your book sell immediately, but gets the word out about your book so that that reader in Nigeria or India who wants to desperately read your book knows that it exists. Here are a few easy tips for book promotion-
1. Create a website and blog- This is where all your fans can find you. Include the link to your every activity on your site.
2. Start using social media- Social networking is a huge phenomenon. With millions of readers online on Twitter, Facebook, Digg, Myspace this is one of the best ways to make your book into a huge hit. It is also the only way that readers in other countries can know about your book and have a chance to buy it.
3. Join forums or groups- Do not join any forum randomly. First find out where all your readers are going. Then go there. Interact with them like any other normal person. Let your love for books and writing show but at the same time don't be too salesy.
4.Write articles- This will improve your interaction with your readers. I am also writing this article to promote my free ebook Roses of Doom. Articles are a great way to promote anything.
5. Search and see what other authors are doing- This is one of the greatest ways to learn. Search your favorite author and see where his/her name appears. Then try to get your name and book on the same site too.
6. Be patient- Everything takes time. So does making your ebook a huge hit. You might get frustrated, depressed and irritated that nothing is happening. But a few months later, you will see your effort paying off. Don't lose hope and do your best.
