subject: Having A Craft Business Online - Where Do You Start? [print this page]

Have your family and friends ever told you how much they love to receive the crafts you do? If they have you might want to think about starting your own craft business.

Starting a craft business is actually fairly simple to do. Especially since you no longer have to have a real bricks and mortar store or spend an exorbitant amount of money starting your craft business up.

If you make something that you think people would be happy to have then you can easily turn your hobby into your very own business on the Internet.

What do you need to start up a craft store online?

Not as much as you think, you are going to need to be able to take pictures, have access to the Internet, have about $5, and of course, have a craft to sell.

Do you need to be good at taking pictures?

Nope. It does not really matter what your level of expertise at taking pictures is. As it has been said though, a picture is worth a thousand words and that is so true when you are selling your crafts on the Internet.

The photo's that your potential customers see are the only thing connecting them to the craft you are selling and their desire to buy it.

Make sure you are spending a good amount of time on taking your pictures and are changing up the lighting and background to find the desired results.

Being able to take nice pictures is a learned thing and is going to take some practice but the only way to improve is to do.

Make sure you are not letting your picturing taking skills keep you from opening up your own craft business though. This is something that you will grow into over time just like owning your own business will.

So, where would you sell your crafts online?

There are a few different places to start a craft business online but my personal favorite is Etsy.
