Everywhere in Italy there is a rich artistic and architectural heritage, a huge richness for both the strong tourist draw that from the cultural and study point of view. Venice is a city that has best preserved its heritage, a city that is still largely devoted to the preservation of its artistic heritage, especially its dissemination, with numerous shows and exhibitions. The richness of events in this city is testified by numerous events, from the Biennale to the private collections, exhibitions organized by the Italian and foreign foundations. Thus each month you can visit important exhibitions.

One of these important exhibitions is being held on the island of Torcello, starts on 29 August and can be visited until January 10, entitled "Origins of Venice. Between East and West. The exhibition is held at the Diocesan Museum and celebrates the thousand-year history of the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta of Torcello, built way back in 1008. The light of Byzantium, the color of Torcello, the gold of Venice. Three notes that give rise to a singular exceptional exhibition to celebrate one of the major artistic and cultural places of pilgrimage in recent centuries. An exhibition "alive", which tells a great story from the first settlements in the lagoon at the end of the thirteenth century through the glories of that art which, created in Byzantium, in the Venetian lagoon found the ideal environment in which to grow and develop, giving rise to new forms and expressions that are, even today, the magic of Torcello and the charm of Venice.

Another important event is the exhibition dedicated to Leonardo Da Vinci called "Leonardo - The Vitruvian Man between art and science. The exhibition takes place at the Academy Gallery from 10 October 2009 to 10 January 2010. The famous Vitruvian Man drawn by Leonardo da Vinci, has become an icon of Western civilization, is maintained in the Galleria dell'Accademia since 1822. Finally, after seven years after his last exposure to the public will be exposed again.

A rare opportunity to see live the famous drawing by Leonardo da Vinci depicting the human proportions according to the anthropometry canons of the Roman architect Vitruvius Pollio of the second century AD, called the Vitruvian Man.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an appropriate didactic apparatus, also suitable for the visually impaired, and multimedia applications.

We must also remember the exhibition entitled "Pendergast in Italy" which put together for the first time the works that the American artist Maurice Prendergast realized aftermath of two trips to Italy - the first in 1898, the second in 1911: a corpus that is today one of the most representative and illuminating examples of American art. The exhibition will take place at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection from 10 October to 3 January.

This is just a taste of what awaits the visitor who stays in Venice for a few days. A winter full of colors and emotions.
